Ivan turned against people after his wife was killed.
Because of his untrusting ways he made the police murder people who they thought were traitors.
In 1581, he killed his oldest son and the only one of his sons fit to rule.
When Ivan died, his youngest son was the only one left rule,
He was very weak and unable to rule.
Once he died there was no one next in line to the throne, so there was a time period called the Time of Troubles because there were arguements on who should take the throne.
